Just before Christmas, 3 days to be exact, we had 2 new windows installed in our little house in the woods.  We moved from the city where we had a sidewalk out to the country, where we live on a dirt road,  6.5 years ago.  We fell in love with the property and then noticed that the house was a 1968 rambler with those ridiculous windows that I had to stand on tip toes to see out of:

There’s a pond right outside the window.  Don’t get me started on the hideous wallpaper.  When I am in bed I can’t see it, and it’s coming down because we’ve got this brand new window that the kitties think is their very own Christmas present complete with a bird feeder that attaches to the window with giant suction cups:

Here’s what it looks like in the window almost all the time now:

They wait for pretty nuthatches:

And Hairy Woodpeckers:

And they scare the crap out of these poor birds.

Quick get away!

It’s all good fun for them.  I just hope it’s not bad for the birds.

Anja and Nolan met in high school.  They both played hockey and attended prom together.  They are both officers in the Navy and were home on leave.  They spend a lot of time apart as Anja is on an aircraft carrier and will soon be deployed to the Middle East and Nolan is in training in Florida.  They did manage to coordinate their schedules for wedding on the 19th of December at Beautiful Savior Luteran Church in Plymouth, followed by the reception at Rush Creek Golf Club.

After the wedding they headed out to Key West for a honeymoon and then back to Minnesota for Christmas.  The head back to their respective posts any day now.  More time apart.  Stay safe and thanks for your service to our country!
